During that period, Lu Tung Hien's weight dropped from 70 kg to 50 kg, leaving him "thin as paper". Eating caused him pain, which slowed his recovery. After more than half a year, Lu Tung Hien's condition is now stable, but his lung function remains weak, requiring regular hospital check-ups. The actor described his coma as a dream. He did not fear death; his only concern was his partner, Mach Canh Dinh, worrying about him.
Currently, the couple operates a vegetarian restaurant chain, and he also produces television series. Lu Tung Hien graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 1989 and gained fame for roles in Quyen Vuong, Thien Nu U Hon, Hiep Cot Nhan Tam, and Tieu Ngao Giang Ho (1996).

According to Sina, experts and most audiences consider the 1996 adaptation of the novel Tieu Ngao Giang Ho to be the most successful among approximately 10 television versions. Lu Tung Hien, though not conventionally handsome, captured the free-spirited essence of Lenh Ho Xung. When the series first aired, writer Kim Dung remarked, "He has the eyes and expressions of Lenh Ho Xung."
Regarding his estate, Lu Tung Hien has not made a will early because he does not dwell on the future. He stated, "Furthermore, I do not have any significant assets, no children, and my sister lives in Australia."
