Thao attracted attention at a mid-July event with her changed appearance. In 2023, she had lost 22 kg and received praise for her slimmer post-pregnancy figure after her second child. However, following gallbladder removal surgery in late 2024, she gained weight and is now almost 80 kg.

According to the actress, she increased her food intake to recover from the surgery. Every day, her husband, businessman Duc An, creates different menus and personally cooks nutritious meals for her.

Phan Nhu Thao said she isn't upset about her changed physique. She chooses outfits that make her feel confident for public appearances. "I no longer prioritize having a slim figure. My husband doesn't complain about my appearance, so my mental state isn't affected," she said.

She now focuses on a positive outlook instead of dwelling on negative comments and criticism like she used to. Phan Nhu Thao previously tried various methods to improve her appearance, including fasting, cutting out essential nutrients, and misusing weight loss pills. As a result, she faced health problems and was hospitalized. She learned from the experience, admitting her lack of sound judgment in her approach to beauty.

She is now planning to maintain a healthy balance to prevent further weight gain, choosing a diet combined with adequate sleep and exercise.

Phan Nhu Thao, 36, was a top 10 finalist in Miss World Vietnam 2007 and won first prize in Promising Model 2008. In 2013, she represented Vietnam in Asia’s Next Top Model. She acted in films like *Beauty and Fame*, *Stolen Fate*, *White Black Boundary*, and *Picky Single Lady*. She married in 2015 and gave birth to her first child a year later. Since then, she has been less involved in showbiz, mainly focusing on business.

Thao’s husband is businessman Duc An, 26 years her senior. He has been married before and has children from a previous relationship. Earlier this year, they officially registered their marriage after 10 years together to affirm their commitment amidst rumors of a rift.
