Phuong Oanh has returned to television acting after taking time off to have children and care for her family. Her return coincided with the emergence of social media posts claiming her husband, businessman Nguyen Hoa Binh (affectionately known as Shark Binh), encouraged her to stay home, offering her a monthly allowance of one billion Vietnamese dong (approximately 43,000 USD), but she refused, not wanting to be seen as dependent.
On 7/7, Phuong Oanh confirmed these reports were fabricated and that images of her and her husband were used without permission. Having previously been the subject of false reports, she wanted to warn the public and encourage them to be discerning about the news they consume. "I hope everyone will get their information from verified accounts or reputable news outlets and avoid suspicious links that could be scams or contain malware designed to steal money from their accounts," she said.

Shark Binh expressed his frustration after a friend showed him the fake news. "My wife and I have often been the subject of fabricated stories, but we've always told each other not to worry and to focus on our lives. However, this time it's more blatant, with fabricated quotes attributed to me alongside family photos, leading to many misunderstandings," he said.
Phuong Oanh, 36, born in Ha Nam, was a model before becoming an actress. She is known for her roles in television series such as Hoa Bay, Loi Thi Tham Tu Qua Khu, Gai Gia Xi Tin, Nguoc Chieu Nuoc Mat, Lang Yen Duoi Vuc Sau, Quynh Bup Be, and Huong Vi Tinh Than. She and businessman Nguyen Hoa Binh (commonly known as Shark Binh) publicly announced their relationship in 8/2022, registered their marriage in Phu Ly in 6/2023, and welcomed twins, a boy and a girl, in 5/2024.
Many celebrities have expressed frustration over being impersonated and falsely portrayed in the media. In 2024, artist Le Thuy warned about her voice being manipulated using AI technology, leading many to believe she was singing Korean and Thai music. Many older fans, unfamiliar with the technology, expressed confusion and disappointment, thinking she had changed her musical style.
In mid-April, singers Dan Truong and My Tam reported that their images were misused in advertisements for a nut milk brand. In early June, director Ly Hai said he was impersonated in AI-manipulated videos promoting gambling. He also reported being impersonated on social media platforms for "work-from-home recruitment scams".
