Actor Quyen Linh attended the premiere of "Chot Don" (directed by Bao Nhan and Nam Cito), in which he plays the lead role, on 4/8 in Ho Chi Minh City. When asked about his return after the advertising controversy, Quyen Linh said that after each incident, he takes time to reflect and learn. He admitted to exaggerating the benefits of a product.
In April, the Ministry of Public Security broke up a ring producing and distributing 573 counterfeit milk powder brands. Quyen Linh and several other artists were subsequently criticized by the public for having endorsed some of these products, including milk brands.
Quyen Linh then wrote a letter to the Vietnam Cinema Association, claiming that some individuals had edited old images of him to create a false connection to the counterfeit milk advertisements. He stated this damaged his reputation and personal life and negatively impacted his family. The Association then sent an official letter requesting the Ministry of Public Security to investigate and handle the matter.
In mid-July, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism reprimanded Quyen Linh for misleading advertising about the product's effectiveness. He was not penalized because the incident occurred too long ago to fall within the administrative violation statute of limitations.
In "Chot Don," he plays Mr. An, a motorbike taxi driver hired to work for a livestream sales company. Despite being poor, Mr. An cares for a young girl who has lost her parents. The actor shares several romantic scenes with Hong Dao, who plays Ms. Binh, a hair salon owner and Mr. An's helpful neighbor.

Quyen Linh said he hesitated when he first read the script because he had never acted alongside Hong Dao. He had admired her since his student days at the School of Dramatic Arts 2 (now the University of Theatre and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City). After Hong Dao moved to the US, they rarely had a chance to talk. On set, Hong Dao, with her greater film experience, helped him with his acting. "We had two kissing scenes, the last one in the movie took 16 takes," he said.
Actor Quyen Linh, whose real name is Mai Huyen Linh, rose to prominence in the 1990s with his ruggedly handsome looks and romantic roles in films like "Nguoi Ha Noi" (1995), "Nhung Neo Duong Phu Sa" (1997), "Dong Tien Xuong Mau" (1999), and "Giao Thoi" (2000). In the 2000s, he transitioned to hosting TV shows like "Vuot Len Chinh Minh" and "Ban Muon Hen Ho." He married Da Thao in 2005 and has two daughters, affectionately nicknamed Lo Lem and Hat De.
At the end of 8/2024, he returned to cinema after 20 years with the film "Hai Muoi" (directed by Vu Thanh Vinh). Besides acting and producing shows, he is also the Vice President of the Vietnam Cinema Association.
