According to Box Office Mojo, Johansson's latest film, "Jurassic World: Rebirth", earned $318 million USD globally after nearly a week in theaters, topping the box office in North America and many other countries and territories. This achievement pushed the total earnings of films featuring the actress past $14.8 billion USD, surpassing actor Samuel L. Jackson's $14.6 billion USD.
Over $8.7 billion USD of Johansson’s total comes from four Avengers films and "Captain America: Civil War," in which she played Natasha Romanov, also known as Black Widow. In "Jurassic World: Rebirth," Johansson plays expert Zora Bennett, who searches for a creature with DNA that could create a breakthrough medicine. Other notable roles include "Iron Man 2" and voice acting in two "Sing" films.
According to Numbers' list of the top 5 highest-grossing actors, besides Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson, third place belongs to Robert Downey Jr. ($14.3 billion USD). Following closely behind are Zoe Saldaña ($14.2 billion USD) and Chris Pratt ($14.1 billion USD).
Despite currently holding the top spot, Johansson could soon be overtaken. Zoe Saldaña will reappear in "Avatar: Fire and Ash," a blockbuster expected to dominate the box office later this year, while Robert Downey Jr. returns to Marvel as Doctor Doom in "Avengers: Doomsday" (releasing 12/2026). Johansson previously led the rankings thanks to the Marvel series, but she currently has no plans to return to the superhero universe, including "Avengers: Doomsday" or any other project.
