Singer Hong Nhung joins 'Vietnam Vibes' competition as a judge

Diva Hong Nhung, YouTuber Khoai Lang Thang, and Associate Professor Dr. Lam Minh Chau will judge "Vietnam Vibes" - a photo and video competition showcasing the beauty of Vietnam and its people.

VnExpress launched the "Vietnam Vibes" photo and short video competition on 23/7, encouraging the community to share stories and emotions about Vietnam through various cultural perspectives, using images and videos. The organizing committee selected a judging panel from three professional fields: academics, arts, and content creation to ensure a comprehensive, objective, and multi-faceted evaluation of submissions.

Readers can submit their photos/short videos here.

Diva Hong Nhung is a prominent figure in Vietnamese music. Besides singing, she participates in activities related to traditional culture and creative projects, inspiring the community. With her artistic eye as a professional performer, she will evaluate submissions based on emotional impact, aesthetic depth, and the harmony between image and narrative.

Associate Professor Dr. Lam Minh Chau, a senior lecturer at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), has an academic background in anthropology, culture, and national identity. A graduate of Cambridge University (UK), he has conducted extensive research on communities, customs, and the evolution of Vietnamese culture in the modern context. Dr. Chau's role on the judging panel is to discern the cultural depth of each submission. He will evaluate photos and videos based on their representation of daily life, reflection of regional identity, community values, and the humanistic message conveyed.

Visual storytelling, particularly in video, is another key criterion. Content creator Khoai Lang Thang (real name: Dinh Vo Hoai Phuong) is a familiar face to the public through his videos exploring Vietnamese culture, tourism, and cuisine. His YouTube channel has millions of subscribers thanks to his approachable, natural style, and emphasis on authenticity and inspiration. Khoai Lang Thang will evaluate submissions based on content structure, emotional connection with viewers, and potential for online reach. With experience producing hundreds of videos about his journeys throughout Vietnam, he is well-versed in the daily lives of Vietnamese people in various regions, from urban to rural areas, from mountains to islands. "I hope that with my experience, I can discover the valuable details in the storytelling of the submissions," he said.

The three judges share a common goal: to find submissions that are not only visually appealing but also have depth and touch upon Vietnamese identity. Submissions can depict a daily story, a simple moment, or a unique cultural feature.

Competition Rules and Submission Requirements:

VnExpress launched the "Vietnam Vibes" competition for all Vietnamese people at home and abroad, as well as international friends, with the desire to revisit Vietnam's journey through individual perspectives. Each photo and short film submitted is a piece of the mosaic depicting 80 years of history and the enduring patriotism of the Vietnamese people.

Vietnam Vibes includes two categories: photos and videos. Photo submissions must be in digital format (PNG or JPG), with a minimum short side of 3,000 pixels, a file size of at least 2MB, and no cropping, additions, or distortions. Photos should not have borders, text, names, or place names added. Each submission must include a complete caption.

Video submissions should be in portrait orientation, under 90 seconds in length, in MP4 format, with a minimum quality of Full HD, and a file size not exceeding 200MB. Videos can be shot with any device, as long as they meet the technical standards. Content must be clear, relevant to the theme, and owned by the submitter. Videos that copy or illegally use images or sounds from other sources will be disqualified. If people appear in the video, consent must be obtained from them or their legal guardians.

Each participant can submit a maximum of one entry per category. Author names should match official identification documents, and submissions should not contain advertising. Content can showcase the beauty of the country, its people, cultural values, and nature, reflecting Vietnam's development achievements during its period of renovation and integration. The inclusion of the Vietnamese national flag is encouraged.

Submissions must not violate any laws, be contrary to cultural norms, and must comply with the competition rules.

Vietnam Vibes accepts submissions from 23/7 to 23/8, along with online voting on the program's website. On 25/8, the organizing committee will announce the finalists. Judging will take place from 25/8 to 29/8. The award ceremony will be held at the VnExpress headquarters in the first week of September.

There will be one prize for each category: First, Second, Third, and Honorable Mention. The Honorable Mention award will be given to the entry most shared on social media or with the most likes on the program's website.
