Ton An Ta was arrested in Taipei on 17/5, facing four charges including threatening the public and intentional arson, according to Zaobao on 19/5. Police discovered Ton An Ta's actions after he detonated gunpowder by a river and posted a video of it on social media.

During the investigation, police found Ton An Ta also possessed a shotgun. Authorities are currently investigating the weapon's origin. At the police station, Ton An Ta stated, "They are not mine".

Following her son's arrest, Di Oanh went live online, crying and claiming injustice. She said, "Since he was in school, my son has been passionate about studying explosives. An Ta is a genius; why wouldn't a research institute hire my son?".

Di Oanh asserted that Ton An Ta played with gunpowder in a secluded area, harming no one. The actress defended her son: "Ton An Ta is truly not a bad child; the fault is mine. I've said too much; people will say a child's misbehavior stems from the mother".

Ton An Ta has been involved in multiple scandals. In 2018, while studying in America, he was arrested for threatening to "shoot up a school". Police later found Ton An Ta possessed a large amount of ammunition. He served 260 days in prison and was then deported from America.

Ton An Ta is the only son of Di Oanh and actor Ton Bang. They married in 1998, divorced in 2004, and their son lived with his mother. Di Oanh once revealed An Ta was 11 years old when he stopped breastfeeding.
