The film's producers have unveiled the character designs for Thanh Hang's upcoming movie. She takes on the lead role of Cam Thanh, a sought-after dancer admired in lavish entertainment venues. Conflict arises as Cam Thanh becomes a thorn in the side of Madame Sac (Hong Anh), the owner of the Kim Do nightclub.
Following the ominous line, "Cam Thanh is past her prime," a series of tragedies befalls the protagonist. She is tormented by a group of individuals, her head forcibly submerged in a fish tank. A scene depicting her crying in the rain hints at her defeat in a confrontation with Madame Sac. After an incident that leaves her beauty scarred, Cam Thanh devises a plan to make her rival pay. In addition to Hong Anh and Thanh Hang, Van Mai Huong features in a supporting role as a popular singer.
Thanh Hang stated that Cam Thanh is one of her most challenging roles to date, featuring complex psychological layers. She dedicated months to thoroughly studying the script and taking dance lessons to prepare for the choreography. Her husband, conductor Tran Nhat Minh, also reviewed the story and provided additional perspectives to help her fully develop the character.
8 years after "Thang nam ruc ro" (directed by Quang Dung), Thanh Hang reunites with veteran actress Hong Anh. Unlike their friendship in the previous film, this new project sees the two actresses take on opposing roles, depicting the calculated conflicts rooted in love and money. As a producer, Thanh Hang invested heavily in the sets and costumes, meticulously recreating the opulent ambiance of nightclubs from that era.
Thang Vu, who previously directed "Cai ma," revealed that the script draws inspiration from a real event in 1963. The film adopts a drama noir style, a genre known for its thrilling narratives, popular in Hollywood during the 1940s and 1950s. The story explores the perspectives of two women, each with distinct lifestyles and personalities, yet both find themselves in harsh situations, pushed to their limits.
