Vietnamese stars' multi-million dong 'lucky charms'

Miss Dang Thu Thao and Son Tung M-TP are among the Vietnamese celebrities acquiring four-leaf clover jewelry, symbolizing luck and valued at hundreds of millions of dong.

In late March, Minh Hang traveled to Shanghai for a fashion show by a Vietnamese designer. She paired a cut-out dress with a necklace featuring Van Cleef & Arpels' renowned Alhambra four-leaf clover design. This mother-of-pearl inlaid piece is priced at €9,800 (VND 298.2 million).

For about two years now, the Alhambra jewelry craze has surged globally, favored by many actors, singers, and football players. According to Vogue, these classic designs hold significant value and are considered a sound investment, similar to iconic bags from Hermes and Chanel. In Vietnam, an increasing number of celebrities are seen wearing this jewelry.

During a trip with friends to Vinh Hy in March, Toc Tien wore a necklace valued at €3,200 (VND 97.3 million). The design features black onyx, a feng shui stone believed to help ward off negative energy and evil spirits, symbolizing strength and promoting focus and courage.

Van Cleef & Arpels, established in 1896 by Alfred Van Cleef and his brother-in-law, is a long-standing French luxury jewelry maker. The brand's designs often incorporate flowers, animals, and fairies. The four-leaf clover motifs first appeared in the 1920s. Vogue states that since the late 1960s, the Alhambra collection has been a symbol of luck and French elegance.

This year's Tet holiday saw Miss Dang Thu Thao embracing the ba ba shirt trend, adding a touch of luxury with a bracelet costing €5,150 (VND 156.7 million). In feng shui, white mother-of-pearl evokes purity, representing new beginnings, protection, and innocence.

Miss Luong Thuy Linh chose a long 18K gold necklace adorned with 20 blue agate stones. This design, symbolizing peace, energy balance, and sustainable development, is priced at €20,800 (over VND 633 million). In feng shui, blue agate is believed to bring peace, reduce stress, aid emotional healing, attract good fortune, and enhance creativity.

Singer Ha Thanh Xuan frequently uses expensive accessories to elevate simple outfits. On one flight, she wore a Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry set, which included an Alhambra bracelet for USD 4,200, a necklace for USD 7,950, a ring for USD 3,550, and a Perlee bracelet for USD 6,850. The total value of these four pieces was USD 22,550 (VND 593.7 million).

Quynh Anh, wife of footballer Duy Manh, is known for her lavish taste in luxury items. She has been seen wearing various four-leaf clover designs, including a Lucky Spring bracelet with five motifs crafted from 18K rose gold, mother-of-pearl, carnelian, and onyx, valued at €5,800 (VND 176.5 million). She also owns a mother-of-pearl inlaid necklace similar to Minh Hang's.

Tuyet Lan possesses a jewelry collection worth hundreds of millions of dong, featuring pieces from Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels, including a bracelet identical to Dang Thu Thao's.

Son Tung M-TP is also an admirer of this jewelry line, owning a similar design.

He also has a carnelian necklace, a reddish-brown stone, priced at USD 10,700 (VND 281.7 million), which he wore wrapped around his wrist during a performance. In feng shui, this stone is believed to boost confidence, creativity, and offer protection to the wearer.
