The stars of 'Wednesday'

Jenna Ortega embodies the psychic protagonist, while Catherine Zeta-Jones portrays a fiercely protective mother in "Wednesday".

Season two of Wednesday premiered on Netflix on 6/8, topping the English-language TV show charts in 91 countries and territories in its first week. The show surpassed 50 million views after just one week.

According to Variety, the series' success stems not only from the appeal of the first season but also from the expansion of Nevermore Academy with new characters, conflicts, and mysteries. The storyline combines a spooky atmosphere with a captivating narrative, full of drama. Video: Netflix

Jenna Ortega makes a striking impression as Wednesday, the eccentric eldest daughter of the Addams family. After being expelled for retaliating against her brother's bullies, she arrives at Nevermore Academy, a school for outcasts. At her new school, she is constantly embroiled in trouble, witnessing a string of bizarre deaths. In season two, Wednesday returns to the gothic realm, where new dangers and enemies await.

Before Wednesday, the 23-year-old actress was known for her lead role as Harley Diaz in the Disney Channel series Stuck in the Middle (2016-2018), and appeared in horror films like The Babysitter: Killer Queen, Scream, Scream VI, and X.

Her role in the Netflix series has established Ortega as a rising star in Hollywood, earning her an Emmy nomination in 2023 and the media moniker "Queen of Horror," comparable to Anya Taylor-Joy. In season two, Ortega also serves as a producer. Image: Netflix/SAG-AFTRA

Catherine Zeta-Jones plays Morticia, Wednesday's mystically beautiful mother, whose actions often lead her daughter into awkward situations. Before Morticia, Zeta-Jones won an Oscar for her role as Velma Kelly in Chicago. She also starred in hits like The Mask of Zorro, Traffic, and Ocean's Twelve. In the early 2000s, she was one of Hollywood's highest-paid actresses, earning over 6 million USD per film.

In 1998, Zeta-Jones met Michael Douglas at a film festival in France. They began dating secretly and married in 2000. The 56-year-old actress has two children. Image: Netflix
