Thu Quynh is currently gaining attention for her role as Lan, a mysterious and cold drug lord in the film Lua trang, directed by Bui Quoc Viet. In episode 11, broadcast on 23/7, many viewers recognized the actress reprising a line from her character My Soi in the series Quynh bup be, directed by Mai Hong Phong. Specifically, when Lan was threatened by Suong (Cu Thi Tra), she warned, "Do you think you're good enough to mess with me?"

On social media platforms, many viewers commented that the line reminded them of the flirtatious and malicious My Soi. Eight years later, excerpts from the film and character continue to garner public interest and discussion. Most viewers praised Thu Quynh's authentic acting and distinct delivery.
My Soi marked Thu Quynh's return after three years away from acting due to marital difficulties. To portray the courtesan, she cut her long hair, which she had for many years, wore revealing outfits, and applied heavy makeup. She also invested time studying the character's inner struggles through each stage to depict complex psychological developments.
Thu Quynh considered this a daring role, as she typically played gentle characters before. The actress once bet on herself that if the audience did not accept her, she would stop acting in television dramas and focus on the stage. My Soi later became one of the most prominent highlights of Thu Quynh's acting career. She was among the top 5 nominees for the Impressive Film and Television Actress award at the Mai Vang Awards in 2018.
On screen, Thu Quynh transforms into diverse characters, both good and evil, always creating new and distinct portrayals. While the popularity of Quynh bup be was still high, the actress surprised audiences by playing Hue, a character with a fate and personality contrasting My Soi, in the drama Ve nha di con, directed by Nguyen Danh Dung. As the eldest daughter in Mr. Son's (Meritorious Artist Trung Anh) family, Hue's mother died early. Hue lived a life of resignation, always accepting hardship, diligently caring for her father and two younger siblings. Her timid and weak nature also led to many romantic troubles.
Thu Quynh stated that she viewed Hue as a challenge, helping her demonstrate her flexible transformation ability. When filming began, she spent about one week completely "shedding" the My Soi character. Her ability to embody the role astonished viewers, who frequently questioned how Thu Quynh differentiated the two characters. At the 2019 National Television Festival, she received the award for Excellent Actress.
In the series Huong vi tinh than, directed by Nguyen Danh Dung, Thu Quynh played Khanh Thy, a character burdened by her parents' dark past, constantly controlled by her mother, and lacking empathy. Her acting earned praise in many scenes, such as Khanh Thy's indignation upon discovering her mother's affair with her father's killer, or her self-pity from her mother's harsh treatment.
Thu Quynh once revealed that she experienced stress when embodying the role, feeling quite tense at the beginning of the film because the character was disliked for her ambition. The actress tried to limit reading viewer comments, focusing instead on consulting the director and scriptwriter to find the correct portrayal.
Participating in the project Cuoc chien khong gioi tuyen, directed by Nguyen Danh Dung, Thu Quynh took on the role of Phuong, an honest, upright, and dedicated H'Mong ethnic nurse. She spent one month filming in Son La, directly experiencing the lives of people in the highlands. During preparation for her character's appearance, she borrowed clothes from her housekeeper and bought items at Dong Tac and Kim Lien old markets in Hanoi. At the end of 2023, she received a commendation from the Ministry of National Defense for her successful portrayal.
Thu Quynh's acting talent is recognized by many in the industry. Speaking about the project Ve nha di con, director Nguyen Danh Dung commented that Thu Quynh's portrayal was authentic. Meritorious Artist Trung Anh, who has acted alongside her in many films, was surprised by her character My Soi, as he always believed the actress was only suited for gentle roles.
