Both Polo 79 versions aim for a sporty-elegant spirit, leaning more towards elegance. Compared to the yellow gold version, the white gold model offers a subtle, cool, and distinctive look. This silvery-white sheen evokes the steel sports watch craze that has shown no signs of cooling down for over 10 years. |
Following the success of the Piaget Polo 79 Yellow Gold, the Swiss watchmaker released a new white gold version earlier this year, reviving a popular watch duo from the 1980s.
Last year, Piaget brought back its classic design with the Piaget Polo 79. The watch retains most of the original blueprint, revolving around the gadroon motif, suggesting a seamless whole.

The "waves" not only intertwine round and square shapes but also create a strong contrast through the hand-finished horizontal brushing or mirror polishing. Every detail on the case, bracelet, and dial is custom-made to give the watch a cohesive, almost monolithic appearance. |

Both versions are equipped with the 1200P1 automatic movement, replacing the old quartz movement. This ultra-thin mechanical movement features a micro-rotor with a compact diameter, allowing the Polo 79 pair to be only 7.45 mm thick and 38 mm in size, fitting the line's long-standing criteria: elegant and unisex. |

In 1979, Piaget first launched a sports watch called "Polo," inspired by the sport of polo, a favorite of Chairman Yves G. Piaget. This was also the first time the company officially gave a product its own name. |

Capitalizing on the thinness of the Piaget-developed 7P quartz movement (only 3.1 mm thick, a world record at the time), the Polo made its mark among the elite with the fashionable, elegant "watch-as-bracelet" philosophy, made entirely of gold. With only yellow gold or white gold materials, many unique Polo variations were born. Today, they are sought-after collectibles worldwide. "We are responding to the new needs of customers who previously only wore dress watches. They now want to do more, play more sports," Yves G. Piaget said about the motivation behind this design.
Thanks to this vision, the Polo became a success, an icon of prosperity and freedom in the 1980s.
