The actors' characters are introduced for the first time in the teaser. Thanh Vy plays Yen, a young woman traveling to Thailand to meet the family of her boyfriend, Bank (played by JJ Krissanapoom). As Yen prepares for their wedding in Chiang Mai, Bank’s hometown, she encounters a spirit who warns her of secrets surrounding her fiance’s wealthy family. The teaser concludes with Yen being restrained by Bank's family and forced into a strange ritual.
29-year-old JJ Krissanapoom rose to fame starring in the horror series "Forbidden", the first Thai original series on HBO Asia. The actor mentioned that prior to "Ghost Bride," he and Rima Thanh Vy had only met briefly, without much interaction. On their first day of filming, they made time to talk before shooting began, discovering they had much in common, which helped them portray romantic scenes more naturally.
Thanh Vy also assisted her co-star during his first visit to Vietnam for the film's initial scenes. The actor expressed his fascination with Ho Chi Minh City, captivated by its vibrant energy and blend of modernity and traditional culture. "I enjoyed exploring the coffee shops, bars, and especially the street food," he said.

Director Lee Thongkham explained that he chose a Vietnamese actress for the lead role instead of a Thai actress to portray the perspective of a foreigner experiencing Thailand for the first time. He believes the unfamiliarity and cultural and language differences create a sense of isolation and fear, enhancing the film’s suspense. Lee Thongkham previously gained recognition for "The Maid", the first Netflix original film from Thailand.
The film was primarily shot in Chiang Mai, featuring ancient temples and shadowy forests. Ho Chi Minh City appears in several scenes showcasing the main character's initial life before entering Bank’s family. The film is slated for release in Vietnam on 15/8, followed by releases in Australia, New Zealand, the US, Canada, and Thailand.
Rima Thanh Vy, standing at 1.68 m, began her career as a model. At 15, she starred in a music video for singer Ly Hai, followed by minor roles in films like "Scandal: The Secret of the Red Carpet", "Lost in Paradise", and "11 Hopes". In the fashion world, Rima Thanh Vy gained attention as a top 6 finalist in Asia's Next Top Model 2018. In 2022, she played a "female warrior" in "Thanh Soi", an action film directed by Ngo Thanh Van. In 2024, she starred as Tam alongside Lam Thanh My and Thuy Diem in an 18+ film directed by Tran Huu Tan.
