On 20/5, Dr. Ngo Xuan Quy, Head of the Head and Neck Surgery Department at K Hospital, announced that his medical team had successfully operated, completely removing a 7 cm tumor and preserving the young man's vision.
Previously, the patient's condition became critical, with a spreading ulcer threatening to invade his eye, prompting specialists to recommend urgent admission for surgery. However, his family declined the treatment plan, unable to secure sufficient funds for the advance payment. Facing the risk of the patient losing his eyeball, a treating doctor immediately provided 2 million VND to complete the admission paperwork.

The Head and Neck Surgery Department, along with the Social Work Department, appealed to benefactors, raising nearly 50 million VND to cover all treatment costs. During the surgery, surgeons extensively dissected the affected area to eliminate malignant cells. Specialists then rotated a scalp flap to cover the defect, aiding in facial aesthetic reconstruction. Currently, the patient's health is recovering well.
Before arriving at K Hospital, the temporal tumor had recurred two times after surgery at a local facility. The lesion progressed rapidly, ulcerating and discharging fluid, causing the patient significant difficulties. Dr. Quy warned that skin cancer often begins with subtle signs easily mistaken for common dermatological conditions, such as moles changing color or slow-healing ulcers. He urged people to seek specialist examination immediately upon detecting a growing hyperpigmented papule on the face, to avoid delaying and missing the critical treatment window.
