According to Associate Professor Doctor Dao Xuan Co, Director of Bach Mai Hospital, on 16/11, the hospital completed preparations of personnel, equipment, and necessary conditions for the new facility's operation. More than 600 experienced doctors, nurses, and technicians from Hanoi volunteered for rotational assignments.
"This team is the 'soul' of the second facility, committed to delivering medical services and expertise that meet Bach Mai's standards", Co stated. He added that the hospital also recruited and trained new personnel to meet operational needs.

Clinical departments have finalized staffing and equipment plans. At least two modern operating rooms will be operational on the first day to handle emergency cases. Imaging and laboratory systems are being rapidly installed and calibrated. Detailed plans are also in place for drug and supply procurement, nutritional meals, and logistics for medical staff.
The second facility aims to be the first "smart hospital" in the public health system, featuring management software fully integrated with the main headquarters in Hanoi to optimize treatment and care.
The activation of the second facility is a strategic solution to alleviate the burden on the Hanoi hospital. It will also provide tens of millions of residents in Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Thanh Hoa, Ha Nam, and surrounding areas with access to high-tech medical services locally.
At a recent meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long requested the project be completed on schedule for partial operation by 19/12. Deputy Health Minister Le Duc Luan reported that the project finalized procurement contracts for 82 pieces of equipment, with installation expected before 25/12.
The project for Bach Mai and Viet Duc Hospitals' second facilities began in 2015 in Ha Nam (now Ninh Binh), designed for 1,000 beds per hospital. However, construction for both facilities halted in 2021, leading to the degradation of many components. The Government Inspectorate concluded that the project involved numerous violations in investment and bidding, resulting in a waste of approximately 1,253 billion VND. The Ministry of Public Security initiated legal proceedings against seven defendants linked to irregularities in these two projects.
