Post-surgery, patients are often encouraged to perform deep breathing exercises and gentle walking. These activities help prevent lung collapse and pleural adhesion, while promoting blood circulation.
From the third to the sixth month after surgery, patients may gradually increase their activity level. This is possible if incisions have healed completely, there is no persistent chest pain, and follow-up examinations show good results.
After six months, the body is typically stable, and respiratory and cardiovascular functions gradually recover. However, the ability to play sports depends on individual recovery. It is advisable to schedule a follow-up examination to assess respiratory function and overall health. This allows your doctor to provide tailored advice on appropriate exercise intensity and type.
When exercising, adhere to the principle of gradually increasing intensity. Strictly avoid heavy weightlifting, movements that compress the chest, or high-impact contact sports like football, basketball, or martial arts. These activities can negatively affect the respiratory system.
