Doctor CKI Vo Thanh Sang, currently working at City International Hospital, encourages women to thoroughly research these factors before deciding on breast augmentation. He has many years of experience in aesthetic medicine, often consulting and performing body contouring and breast augmentation surgeries.
"Each person has a different breast structure, glandular tissue quality, and aesthetic needs, so there is no single method suitable for all cases", Doctor Sang stated.
In reality, many women focus solely on choosing a large or small implant, overlooking other professional factors. The doctor cited the case of Mai Anh, 32 years old, from TP HCM, who wanted to improve her breasts after giving birth to her first child. Initially, she prioritized large breast implants for a noticeable cosmetic effect, hoping to feel confident wearing revealing clothing. However, after examination, the doctor assessed that her glandular tissue and skin elasticity were only suitable for a smaller implant, aiming for balance and minimizing the risk of complications.
Meanwhile, Thanh Huyen, 40 years old, from Long An, was only concerned with a short or long recovery time due to her busy work schedule, beyond the desire for beauty. After consulting with the doctor, she chose an option that suited both her breast tissue condition and personal schedule, rather than focusing solely on aesthetic factors.
Another case is Ngoc Lan, 35 years old, from phuong Sai Gon, TP HCM, who was worried about scarring after breast surgery. Doctor Vo Thanh Sang pointed out that the degree of scarring depends not only on the incision location but also on an individual's constitution, healing ability, and post-operative care process.

According to the doctor, breast augmentation currently offers several incision locations: inframammary fold, areola, or armpit. Each method has its own advantages and limitations, chosen based on individual anatomical features and needs.
For suitable cases, doctors may use assistive tools to insert breast implants into the pocket through a smaller incision. However, incision size is not the only criterion reflecting the quality of a breast augmentation surgery.
"The important thing is that the doctor must have enough space to operate, place the implant correctly, control the surgical process well, and ensure patient safety", Doctor Sang analyzed.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), a pre-surgical consultation helps the medical team assess health status, medical history, anatomical characteristics of the breast such as size, shape, glandular tissue thickness, sagging, and skin quality, while also understanding the client's expectations.
"Breast augmentation is a highly individualized cosmetic procedure. Two people with similar body types may not be suitable for the same type of implant or technique", Doctor Vo Thanh Sang added, encouraging women to discuss thoroughly with their surgeon to understand the advantages, limitations, and potential risks before making a decision.
