Sharing with The Times on november 23, the 59-year-old former prime minister stated he decided to disclose his condition to raise public awareness, despite his desire for privacy. Earlier this year, he underwent a series of medical examinations, including: a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and a biopsy. Results showed high PSA levels, confirming the presence of malignant cells.

Doctors applied focal therapy to treat Cameron. This method uses high-intensity ultrasound waves targeted at tumors, destroying cancer cells while preserving surrounding healthy tissue. Thanks to timely detection, the treatment was smooth, and he is now disease-free.
Cameron admitted his wife, Samantha, insisted he get checked. She made this suggestion after watching a BBC program that interviewed Nick Jones, a businessman actively campaigning for men to get cancer screenings following his own diagnosis.
"Men are often poor at discussing their health and tend to delay seeking medical attention", Cameron stated. "I would feel very guilty if I didn't use my experience to warn people. The screenings helped me detect an abnormality and provided an opportunity for early treatment."

In the UK, prostate cancer has surpassed breast cancer as the most common disease, with approximately 55,000 new cases recorded each year. The disease is common in men over 75 years old and in black men, while cases under 50 years old are rare. According to Prostate Cancer UK, on average, one in 8 men will be diagnosed with this disease in their lifetime.
Although UK health officials recently launched a significant screening trial program, the country has not yet implemented mass screening due to concerns about the accuracy of the PSA test.
