Kidneys perform vital functions, including filtering blood to remove toxins and excess water, and balancing electrolytes. Herbalist Do Minh Tuan, from the Vietnam Traditional Medicine Association, suggests morning habits to support kidney health, combat fatigue, and prevent illness.
Hydration is crucial after sleep. A warm glass of water in the morning effectively replenishes lost fluids. Healthy individuals do not need to add honey, lemon, or herbs. However, those with cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, or on fluid restriction must follow a doctor's instructions regarding water intake.
Traditional Medicine links the lower back directly to kidney health. After waking, rub your palms together until warm, then place them on your lower back. Gently massage the area up and down or in circles for a few minutes. This action warms and relaxes back muscles after a night of rest, promoting more flexible movement.
Light physical activity stimulates circulation and warms muscles and joints. Instead of immediately sitting at your desk, spend a few minutes walking slowly, stretching, rotating your ankles, or performing comfortable hip and back stretches. Avoid overexertion; listen to your body.
No single food provides instant "super nourishment." A balanced breakfast is essential, ensuring a mix of carbohydrates, protein, healthy fats, and vegetables or fruits. Foods like black beans, black sesame, walnuts, and lotus seeds can add variety to your diet, but choose options suitable for your physical condition and any underlying medical conditions.

The herbalist emphasizes that body care requires a synchronized approach: sufficient sleep, a diverse diet, appropriate exercise, and avoiding the arbitrary use of unverified supplements.
High-risk individuals, such as those with diabetes, hypertension, obesity, cardiovascular disease, or a family history of kidney disease, should undergo regular kidney function checks. Blood and urine tests can detect abnormalities before clear symptoms appear.
If you experience persistent lower back pain, tinnitus, urinary dysfunction, insomnia, or unusual sensitivity to heat or cold, visit a medical facility for examination and appropriate advice. Avoid self-diagnosis.
