How male physiology changes across different age groups

Male physiological needs are not static but evolve over time, primarily due to declining testosterone levels and lifestyle influences.

According to Master, Doctor Doan Vinh Binh from the Medical Information Center, Tam Anh General Hospital, TP HCM, normal testosterone levels in adult men range from 300-1,000 nanograms/dl. When testosterone levels drop below 300 nanograms/dl, it can affect sexual desire, fertility, and overall male health.

After the age of 30, the activity of the hypothalamic-pituitary-testicular axis gradually declines, causing testosterone levels to decrease by 1-2% each year. Consequently, men's physiological needs also change.

Between the ages of 20 and 30, testosterone levels peak, supporting physical development, abundant energy, and high sexual desire, leading to more frequent intercourse. However, due to limited experience and control, some men may experience premature ejaculation or erectile dysfunction. Additionally, a lack of knowledge and appropriate protection increases the risk of unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections.

After the age of 30, testosterone levels begin to decline. While not as vigorous as before, men in this age group often exhibit better emotional control and a deeper understanding of their physiology, leading to a more stable quality of sexual life. However, this period is also marked by career development, pressure, stress, and unhealthy lifestyle habits such as alcohol consumption, smoking, and late nights, which can impact libido and performance. Consequently, the frequency of intercourse tends to decrease compared to the previous decade.

After 40, testosterone levels decline significantly, leading to a diminished physiological drive. Concurrently, the risk of chronic conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and dyslipidemia increases in men aged 40-50, directly impacting erectile function and desire. Many men begin to experience difficulties, lose interest in sexual activity, and require more time to reach orgasm. These changes can affect their psychology, causing a loss of confidence and avoidance of intimacy with their partners.

After 60, a sharp drop in testosterone levels makes men prone to sexual dysfunctions such as erectile difficulty and premature ejaculation. Cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, or medication use can significantly reduce physiological needs. However, men's sexual lives do not entirely cease after 60. Many still consider sex an important part of life and maintain a certain level of activity, depending on their overall health and co-existing conditions.

According to Doctor Binh, aging is a natural process. Knowing how to maintain adequate and stable endogenous testosterone levels can help men stay healthy, improve sexual health, and slow down andropause. Men should adopt a healthy lifestyle and diet, get sufficient sleep, limit stress, exercise regularly, and avoid alcohol and tobacco. Supplementing with natural nutrients like eurycoma longifolia, French maritime pine bark extract, and ocean oyster essence can help maintain stable endogenous testosterone and nitric oxide, improving men's sexual function and overall well-being.
