Answer:
Balut provides protein, lipids, calcium, phosphorus, iron, zinc, and vitamins A, B, C. Protein, iron, and zinc are key components that enhance overall physical condition, support testosterone production, and improve physical endurance.
However, balut contains a high concentration of cholesterol, averaging about 600 mg per egg. Regular consumption can lead to excess cholesterol, especially in individuals with dyslipidemia or cardiovascular risk. Atherosclerosis impedes blood flow to various organs, including the reproductive organs. The high protein content in balut also increases the metabolic burden on the liver and kidneys.

To ensure safety, Doctor Duy Tung recommends that healthy men should consume only one to two eggs per week, preferably in the morning or early in the day to allow for proper digestion. Eating balut late at night can cause bloating and disrupt sleep. When consumed, it should be paired with fresh ginger and Vietnamese coriander (rau ram) to aid digestion and balance its 'cooling' properties (in traditional medicine).
Individuals with chronic conditions such as gout, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, fatty liver, dyslipidemia, or kidney failure should consult a doctor before adding balut to their diet.
Nutrition plays only a supportive role and cannot immediately resolve disorders such as decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, or premature ejaculation. If symptoms persist, men should seek consultation with an Andrology specialist for appropriate diagnosis and treatment. Men can also discuss with their doctor about supplementing with extracts such as Eurycoma longifolia (bach benh), French maritime pine bark, and oyster extract to help the body produce testosterone and endogenous nitric oxide, contributing to increased blood circulation and supporting physiological function.
