On 1/6, doctor Nguyen Van Duc, from the Urology - Andrology Department at Xanh Pon General Hospital, stated that this is one of the most severe and rare cases he has encountered in his many years of practice.
The patient, a 41-year-old Lao national, had visited a private clinic near his home for a penile enlargement procedure involving the injection of a filler. Three months later, abnormal signs began to appear in the injected area. His penis became increasingly swollen, with severe throbbing pain and a high risk of necrosis. "An abscess formed on top, with pus penetrating deep into the pubic bone", the doctor explained. The patient suffered from prolonged fever and his health weakened significantly.
Initially, the patient attempted to self-medicate with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs, hoping his condition would improve. However, his condition did not subside; instead, it worsened.
After contacting a doctor, the man decided to travel to Vietnam for medical intervention.

Following surgery, the patient's condition stabilized, and he is now out of critical condition. Nevertheless, due to the late admission, the severe penile necrosis makes it very difficult for him to have normal sexual relations in the future.
Doctors advise men against visiting unregulated clinics or beauty salons for enlargement injections. If they wish to explore options for improvement, they should consult specialists at reputable hospital plastic or reconstructive surgery departments for specific advice. They also recommend against excessive self-consciousness about penis size, as sexual satisfaction primarily depends on erection ability, duration of intercourse, technique, the man's confidence, and mutual affection.
