Sai Gon Ngo Gia Tu Eye Hospital achieves JCI certification

Sai Gon Ngo Gia Tu Eye Hospital has been awarded JCI certification, recognizing its adherence to international standards for clinical quality, governance, and patient safety.

On 4/7, Sai Gon Ngo Gia Tu Eye Hospital received JCI certification from Joint Commission International (JCI), a prestigious US healthcare quality accreditation organization. This certification, known as "The Gold Seal of Approval", recognizes hospitals that meet standards for clinical quality, governance, and patient safety.

According to Master of Science, Doctor Nguyen Phu Tung, Executive Director and Medical Director of Sai Gon Ngo Gia Tu Eye Hospital, this marks a significant milestone for the hospital. All 4 member hospitals of Medical Saigon Group (MSG) have now achieved JCI Enterprise certification. Sai Gon Ngo Gia Tu Eye Hospital's JCI certification acknowledges its investment in quality and patient safety, demonstrating the hospital's and Medical Saigon Group's commitment to sustainable development and international integration.

"JCI certification reflects that all patient examination, treatment, and care processes operate according to international standards, from verifying patient identity and ensuring surgical safety to transparency in consultation and treatment consent," Tung stated.

Unlike assessments solely focused on facilities or equipment, JCI comprehensively evaluates a hospital's operational system. This includes clinical quality, governance, patient safety, infection control, risk management, staff training, and continuous quality improvement. To achieve certification, these standards must be consistently implemented in daily operations.

For patients, JCI certification means standardized examination and treatment processes aligned with international practices. Each patient's identity is verified before any medical intervention, surgical procedures adhere to World Health Organization (WHO) safety checklists, and the right to full information, personal data privacy, and participation in treatment decisions is always ensured.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Professor, Doctor Tran Van Thuan, Deputy Minister of Health, commended Medical Saigon Group and its member hospitals for pursuing international quality benchmarks.

"JCI certification not only reflects clinical competence but also affirms the governance capability of an entire healthcare organization. The value of this certification lies in consistently maintaining international standards in every examination, surgery, and patient interaction through perseverance, discipline, and responsibility," the Deputy Minister added.

To achieve this certification, Sai Gon Ngo Gia Tu Eye Hospital and the entire Sai Gon Eye Hospital System underwent a 20-month preparation period. The hospital reviewed and standardized all professional procedures, built a quality management system, trained staff, and passed multiple evaluation rounds before direct assessment by JCI experts.

Achieving JCI certification enhances Sai Gon Ngo Gia Tu Eye Hospital's standing in ophthalmology. It also allows Vietnamese citizens to access international-standard eye care services domestically.

Hospital representatives stated that with a three-year validity and regular re-accreditation cycles, the hospital will continue to uphold these international standards. These are practical values patients can experience daily: standardized treatment processes, guaranteed rights, continuously measured and improved quality within a safe, transparent, and patient-centered healthcare environment.
