Strange oven smell causes flight attendants to suffer gas poisoning mid-flight

An American Airlines transatlantic flight to the US was forced to divert for an emergency landing after six flight attendants experienced unusual dizziness and fatigue.

An American Airlines flight en route from Rome, Italy, to Philadelphia, US, was forced to divert and make an emergency landing in Dublin, Ireland, after flight attendants unexpectedly displayed symptoms of poisoning due to a strange odor on the aircraft, People reported on 27/7.

An American Airlines representative stated that flight AA719 departed from Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport in Rome, Italy, to Philadelphia International Airport in the US on 25/7. Approximately three hours into its transatlantic journey, six of the nine flight attendants began experiencing unusual dizziness and fatigue. The airline attributed the strange odor to an oven on the aircraft.

Upon the aircraft's landing at Dublin Airport, emergency medical personnel were present at the gate to assess the health of the crew and passengers. Six flight attendants and one passenger received examinations and were released once their conditions stabilized. The airline arranged hotel accommodations for all passengers affected by the incident before they connected to alternative flights to Philadelphia.

This incident is not the only one involving toxic fumes on the airline's flights recently. Previously, in June, American Airlines flight 5907 from Rochester to Philadelphia was also diverted to Syracuse, New York, after a toxic odor was detected emanating from the cockpit.

According to the Onondaga County 911 Center, pilots at the time reported experiencing persistent nausea. Although flight 5907 subsequently landed safely and medical personnel promptly assisted all affected individuals, the recurring incidents of strange odors mid-flight are raising concerns about cockpit safety and crew well-being.
