Unlicensed acupressure and traditional medicine practice fined

A man in Binh Hang Trung commune was fined 35 million dong for providing medical examinations and treatments, including acupressure, massage, and traditional medicine, without proper licensing.

On 2/6, the Binh Hang Trung Commune People's Committee issued an administrative fine to a 48-year-old man for providing medical examinations and treatments without an operating license or professional certificate. The fine amounted to 35 million dong.

The discovery came in mid-May when an inter-agency inspection team from the commune, working with the Internal Political Security Department of Dong Thap Provincial Police, conducted a check at the man's private residence. During the inspection, he was found performing acupressure, massage, and dispensing traditional medicine to local residents.

When questioned by the inspection team, the homeowner admitted to operating the medical examination and treatment activities independently. He confessed to lacking professional training and failing to meet regulatory requirements for qualifications, skills, and facility standards.

Following the findings, authorities ordered the facility to immediately cease all operations and obtained a commitment from the man that he would not resume such illegal practices.

The Dong Thap Provincial Police urged residents to seek medical care only at licensed facilities. They emphasized the importance of thoroughly researching practitioners' credentials and their scope of expertise before utilizing any services.

Furthermore, the police advised the public to promptly report any unlicensed medical facilities to local authorities or the police.
