Vinmec Central Park celebrates 10 years in TP HCM

After 10 years, Vinmec Central Park has evolved from an internationally standardized hospital in Ho Chi Minh City to a healthcare provider building a value-based medicine model, prioritizing patient-centered care.

Vinmec Central Park began operations in 2015 as the third facility within the Vinmec Healthcare System, representing an investment of approximately 1,200 billion VND. From its inception, the hospital aimed to operate according to international standards in the southern region. Spanning nearly 39,000 square meters, the hospital features 178 beds. Initially, it offered 16 specialties, later expanding to 22 departments, alongside specialized centers for cardiology, oncology, diagnostic imaging, and laboratory services.

The hospital's technical infrastructure boasts synchronized, advanced diagnostic and treatment equipment, including a 640-slice CT scanner, a 3.0 Tesla MRI, a hybrid operating room, and a digitized medical data management system. Alongside technological investments, the hospital has cultivated a team of well-trained specialists who regularly participate in consultations and professional collaborations with medical centers in the US, Europe, and Asia.

After 15 months of operation, in June 2017, Vinmec Central Park achieved Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation, scoring 9.84 out of 10 on its first assessment. JCI, a US-based healthcare quality assessment organization, is recognized in over 90 countries, with evaluation criteria focused on patient safety, treatment efficacy, and quality management.

Over the past 10 years, the hospital's operational scale has grown significantly. From nearly 18,000 outpatient visits in its first year, the hospital is projected to serve over 130,000 visits annually by 2025, bringing the total number of patients to nearly one million. Concurrently, the hospital has established four specialized centers, addressing the increasingly diverse treatment needs of both domestic and international patients.

Several professional milestones were recorded during this period. In December 2017, Vinmec Central Park became an independent transcatheter aortic valve implantation (Tavi) center, implementing transcatheter aortic valve replacement for elderly patients with high surgical risk. The reported success rate reached 95.9%, making the hospital one of the facilities with a large volume of Tavi cases at that time.

In 2023, the hospital earned ACC - Cardiac Center of Excellence certification. By 2024, it joined the Cleveland Clinic Connected network, establishing a direct connection with the Cleveland Clinic healthcare system in the US. This partnership expands collaboration in training, consultations, and the standardization of clinical practices according to international standards.

Entering its 10th year, the hospital continues to implement new advanced techniques. Vinmec Central Park is one of the first units in Vietnam to successfully perform stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) electrode placement using an advanced navigation system. This technique is used for exploring epileptic foci in pediatric patients with drug-resistant epilepsy. The procedure is performed with expert consultation from Japanese specialists and Cleveland Clinic. Currently, alongside awake brain surgery and neuromodulation methods, the hospital is one of the few facilities to comprehensively master techniques for treating complex neurological conditions.

In its next development phase, Vinmec Central Park aims to strengthen its professional foundation while gradually implementing a value-based medicine model. Under this approach, treatment efficacy, safety, and patient experience are central to all professional and management decisions.

To achieve this goal, the hospital continues to invest in developing high-quality personnel, alongside applying modern technology and techniques. The combination of the medical team's expertise and the technological system is expected to enhance diagnostic accuracy, optimize treatment protocols, and shorten recovery times for patients.

Concurrently, the hospital focuses on standardizing patient care processes, from reception, examination, and treatment to post-discharge follow-up. From a management perspective, the hospital aims to build a lean operating system based on data and modern management standards, to optimize resources and enhance operational efficiency.

Through quality control, process optimization, and selective investment, the hospital seeks to provide international-standard medical services at a more reasonable cost. This initiative enables domestic patients to access modern healthcare services directly in Vietnam.

According to Dr. Phung Nam Lam, Deputy General Director of the Vinmec Healthcare System, Vinmec Central Park's development is measured not only by its scale or the number of techniques implemented, but also by the level of patient trust when choosing treatment. "Every technological or professional advancement is only meaningful when it helps patients receive better and more reassuring care", he said.
