12-year-old girl murdered, body disposed of in well

A 12-year-old girl from Pong Drang commune was found dead in a well on a coffee farm, with a 20-year-old man suspected of the attack and disposal.

On 21/6, Dak Lak provincial police reported that Pong Drang communal police had received a missing person report yesterday evening. The family, residing in hamlet 4, stated their 12-year-old daughter failed to return home after riding her electric bike to school.

Authorities launched a search, reviewing security camera footage in the area. The footage revealed the girl riding her electric bike with a young man between 13:30 and 14:00 yesterday.

Police identified the individual with the victim as a 20-year-old man from hamlet 9 and brought him in for questioning. He initially denied any involvement.

During the investigation, authorities located the girl's body in a well on the suspect's family coffee farm.

The suspect later admitted that he had arranged to meet the girl, claiming she "owed him money." During an argument, he repeatedly struck her head with a helmet. After she lost consciousness, he carried her to a nearby well and threw her in.

Following the crime, the suspect took the victim's electric bike and pawned it for 8 million VND.

Dak Lak provincial police are continuing their investigation into the case.
