On 20/6, Nguyen Van Thang, 50, and Lam Thanh Vung, 35, a manager, were temporarily detained by the Economic Police Department (PC03) of Ho Chi Minh City Police for violating industrial property rights.
Earlier, in early June, PC03 task forces raided two production and business locations of Thang Dat Company in Di An ward, Binh Duong. Police seized tools, machinery, and nearly 10,000 pairs of fake Crocs sandals, estimated to be worth around 500 million VND.
Investigators stated that Thang directly led this counterfeit ring, which had been operating since January 2024.
Thang tasked Vung with managing the entire production, involving 12 workers and multiple stages to create finished products. A volume of fake footwear was then smuggled onto the market, allowing the group to illegally profit tens of billions of VND.
