Pong Drang Commune Police are currently consolidating documents to prosecute a teenage girl in connection with the death of a newborn immediately after birth. The investigation began on 8/5 following the discovery of the infant.

According to the police investigation, in the early morning of 4/5, a family in Thon 5 heard a knock at their door. They found a young couple requesting to use their restroom. The man waited outside while the girl entered the restroom for about 15 minutes before they both left.

Minutes later, the homeowner discovered a deceased newborn hidden behind the toilet. When preparing the body for burial, residents found toilet paper stuffed in the baby's mouth, prompting them to report the incident to the police.

During the autopsy, police identified the victim as a baby girl weighing approximately 3,6 kg. By noon on 6/5, police located the couple in Phu Hoi ward, Gia Lai province, and brought them in for questioning.

During questioning by investigators, the girl stated she met a young man through a dating app and became pregnant in August 2025. In late April, she visited her 37-year-old brother's farm hut in Pong Drang commune. Around 4h on 4/5, experiencing severe abdominal pain, she asked him to take her for a medical check-up. En route, she requested to use a resident's restroom, where she gave birth.

After giving birth, the girl admitted to stuffing toilet paper into the infant's mouth and hiding her behind the toilet before leaving. She stated she feared the baby's cries would alert others to the birth. The man accompanying her stated he was unaware of her pregnancy, the birth, or the abandonment of the newborn in the restroom.

The incident is currently under investigation.
