Late last month, the Dong Nai police department, in coordination with Binh Loc ward police and the provincial Forest Protection Department, caught Hung trafficking a Javan pangolin.
Upon learning of Hung's arrest, Nam and Ngoc surrendered to the police and confessed to their involvement.
The Javan pangolin (Manis javanica) is an endangered species prohibited from being hunted, traded, or consumed. In Dong Nai province, Javan pangolins are found in the Dong Nai Culture and Nature Reserve and Nam Cat Tien National Park.
