On 20/8, Ha Tinh provincial police reported that they handed Son, originally from Duc Minh commune, over to the Military Zone 5 Criminal Investigation Agency (Ministry of National Defense) to reopen the murder investigation.
Records show that on 15/3/1992, Son committed the crime at Farm 352, Hai Van Company (Dak Lak), under the management of Military Zone 5, and then fled. That same year, the Military Zone 5 Criminal Investigation Agency issued a warrant for his arrest.
While in hiding, Son falsified his identity to avoid detection.

Recently, while reviewing wanted criminals, Ha Tinh Provincial Police’s Criminal Investigation Department discovered a man resembling the fugitive living in a commune in the former Duc Tho district. They immediately dispatched officers to investigate. A week later, investigators confirmed the man was indeed Nguyen Dinh Son, wanted for 33 years, and arrested him.
Initially, Son provided limited information and denied involvement in the case. However, faced with substantial evidence presented by the investigators, he confessed to the murder.
