On 8/10, the An Giang Provincial Police announced that all individuals had been returned to Drug Rehabilitation Center No. 2 in My Thuan commune, An Giang province. The facility was previously located in My Hiep Son commune, Hon Dat district, Kien Giang province.

Initial investigations identified 14 ringleaders of the escape; nine are being investigated for disturbing public order, while the remaining five are accused of resisting public officials.

The mass escape occurred midday on 5/10, after some individuals failed to follow regulations, leading to conflicts, arguments, and fights.

According to the investigative agency, exploiting the chaotic situation, some agitators instigated and incited other individuals to resist duty officers, resulting in injuries to several officers. They then urged others to break fences and escape.

Groups of individuals, armed with sticks, shovels, and knives, moved through residential areas, disturbing public order. Some of the young men robbed motorcycles from residents to use as escape vehicles. Many resisted when surrounded by police.
