Two arrested on charges of undermining the state

Y Nuen Ayun, 58, is accused of repeatedly providing fabricated information about religious activities in the Central Highlands, slandering authorities for causing difficulties for the people.

On 8/10, Y Nuen Ayun, residing in Ea Phe commune, was temporarily detained by the Security Investigation Agency of Dak Lak Provincial Police for undermining the national unity policy. Authorities seized many related items and documents.

Police reported that since 2019, Y Nuen Ayun joined the "Central Highlands Christ Evangelical Church", an organization operating under the guise of religion to infringe upon national security. Two years later, members elected him "Head of the Executive Board". He repeatedly provided fabricated information about religious activities in the Central Highlands, slandering authorities for causing difficulties for the people.

Additionally, Y Nuen Ayun organized propaganda activities, attracting many people to participate in anti-state actions.

Yesterday, the security investigation agency also temporarily detained Huynh Ngoc Tuan, 62, residing in Buon Ho ward. He faces charges of making, possessing, disseminating, or propagating information, documents, and items against the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, according to Article 117 of the Penal Code.

In 1992, the Quang Nam - Da Nang People's Court sentenced Tuan to 10 years in prison for propagandizing against the socialist regime. In 2011, the Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee again fined him 100 million dong for transmitting anti-state information.

Authorities stated that despite repeated education by functional agencies, since the beginning of the year, Tuan continued to use his personal Facebook account to livestream and post articles with distorted, fabricated content. These posts slandered the people's government, caused public confusion, and affected political security and social order.
