Nguyen Van Mai, 31, residing in Vung Ang ward, has been prosecuted and temporarily detained on charges of property theft. The charges fall under Clause 3, Article 173 of the Penal Code. These procedural decisions were approved by the People's Procuracy Area 2 - Ha Tinh and announced on the afternoon of 3/2.

According to the investigation, Mai visited the home of his sister, Nguyen Thi Thai, 38, who lives in Truong Son residential group, Vung Ang ward (formerly part of Ky Anh town), around 12h30 on 9/1.

Authorities accuse Mai of taking advantage of his sister washing dishes in the kitchen. He allegedly snuck into the bedroom, opened the wardrobe, and stole 330 million dong in savings. He then reportedly spent the money on personal expenses.

Following a complaint from the victim, police tracked down Mai's whereabouts after a few days of investigation.
