The Bac Ninh Provincial Police Investigation Agency has served the decision to prosecute and temporarily detain Nguyen Van Dung, Director of the Bac Ninh Department of Science and Technology, for investigation into bribery. His specific violations have not been disclosed.

This development follows a prior determination on 30/7 by the Central Inspection Committee, during its 10th session, which found that Dung had exhibited a decline in political ideology, ethics, and lifestyle. He was identified as having violated Party regulations and state laws in fulfilling his assigned duties and responsibilities, as well as in efforts to prevent corruption, waste, and negativity.

The Central Inspection Committee further concluded that Dung violated regulations concerning what Party members are prohibited from doing and their responsibility to set an example. These violations were deemed to have very serious consequences, severely impacting the reputation of the Party organization, the locality, and the agency and unit where he worked.

Dung is 47 years old and originally from the former Bac Giang province, having started his career at Bao Viet Bac Giang Company. Before serving as Secretary of the former Viet Yen District Party Committee, he spent three years, from 2016 to 2019, as secretary to the former Secretary of the Bac Giang Provincial Party Committee. He has held the position of Director of the Bac Ninh Department of Science and Technology since 7/2025.
