Dozens of teenagers wielding weapons cause chaos in Da Nang city center

A dispute on TikTok escalated into a group of teenagers carrying weapons and speeding through city streets, causing public disorder and endangering commuters.

On 30/11, the Da Nang City Police Criminal Investigation Department initiated legal proceedings and arrested 9 teenagers, aged 16 to 19, for investigation into public disorder, as per Clause 2, Article 318 of the Penal Code.

According to the investigation, the incident stemmed from a TikTok dispute with a group identifying as "Hoa Chau LMT." Tran Ai Quoc, 15, then invited Nguyen Hoang Minh Hieu, 15, and many other teenagers to "resolve the conflict."

This group quickly gathered dozens of individuals from Lien Chieu, Hoa Khanh, An Khe, Thanh Khe, and other areas. They prepared homemade knives, iron pipes fitted with three prongs, pepper spray, and numerous motorcycles with removed license plates.

On the evening of 22/11, the assembled group at Au Co street and the An Ngai Tay 2 village cultural house drove at speeds of nearly 100 km/h along various routes, including Me Linh, Nguyen Luong Bang, Ton Duc Thang, and Nguyen Sinh Sac streets.

Upon reaching the city center, the group caused chaos on other major streets such as Dien Bien Phu, Le Duan, Tran Phu, and 2/9, posing a risk to pedestrians.

While searching for their rivals, the group mistakenly chased a vehicle occupied by Nguyen Viet Quoc Vuong, 13, and Le Nguyen Thanh Dat, 17. After realizing their error, the group invited the two teenagers to join them and continued to drive through various streets with their weapons.

Unable to locate their "Hoa Chau LMT" rivals, the entire group returned to Hoa Khanh early on 23/11 and concealed their homemade knives, iron pipes, and pepper spray.

Police summoned 24 related teenagers, with 9 of them subsequently facing charges.

Authorities confiscated 8 motorcycles (many without license plates), one metal pipe with three pointed ends measuring 2,8 m long, one homemade knife measuring 3,2 m long, one iron pipe measuring 4,6 m long, three other homemade knives, and one pepper spray can.

The Criminal Investigation Department is continuing its investigation to clarify the roles of each individual involved and to process them according to legal regulations.
