On 5/2, Hoang and his wife Phan Thu Hien, 27, were arrested by the Tay Ninh Provincial Criminal Police Department while hiding in An Giang. They are being investigated for murder.

Police also temporarily detained three individuals aged 20-34 who were with the couple on the night of the incident.

According to the investigation, late on 30/1, Nam was dining with friends at an eatery in Bac Ben Soi hamlet, Ninh Dien commune. Due to a prior conflict, Nam had a phone argument with Hoang's group.

Around 0:00 on 31/1, Hoang brought a long knife, drove his wife, and gathered a group of friends to the eatery to confront Nam. Upon arrival, he loudly called Nam "to come out and talk".

After an argument and a brawl, both sides attacked each other with weapons. Hoang swung his knife, striking Nam in the neck, causing severe injuries. The victim attempted to flee for a distance before collapsing and dying from acute blood loss.

Security cameras at the eatery recorded the incident, and the footage subsequently circulated on social media, causing a public stir. Police launched a manhunt for the suspects.
