Father arrested after jumping off bridge with two children

Vo Van Tin, 27, urgently arrested after jumping off a bridge with his 2-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son, resulting in one child's death.

Police urgently arrested Vo Van Tin, 27, who resides in Tu Nghia commune, Quang Ngai province. He is being investigated by Quang Ngai Provincial Police for murder, following his rescue and recovery at a hospital on the evening of 26/11.

The incident occurred around 10 a.m. yesterday at Truong Xuan Bridge, a railway bridge spanning the Tra Khuc River. Tin reportedly drove his two children there on a motorbike. He then left his sandals and backpack before embracing his children and jumping into the water.

Residents on the north bank of the Tra Khuc River noticed the unfolding tragedy and immediately swam to their aid. The two children were rushed to Quang Ngai Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital. Tragically, the 2-year-old girl did not survive, while her 6-year-old brother is currently recovering.

Initial investigations reveal that Tin and his wife, who resides in Ho Chi Minh City, had been living and working in Dong Nai with their children. Following a marital conflict, Tin had taken his children to live with their paternal grandfather in Quang Ngai over two months ago and had been seeking employment as a factory worker. Authorities also noted that Tin had previously attempted to jump from Co Luy Bridge before this incident.
