According to the indictment, on the evening of 3/10/2025, Chi drove a car to an acquaintance's restaurant in Dray Bhang commune. There, she had dinner and drank beer with the owner and 7 other people. She consumed about 8 cans of beer.
Late that night, her mother-in-law called, asking Chi to return home because her young child was crying. Chi drove her car from the restaurant, heading back to her home in Ea Ktur commune. Upon reaching National Highway 27, section passing through hamlet 4, Dray Bhang commune, Chi failed to observe and hit Mr. Toan, who was directing traffic on a flooded road section.
After the collision, Chi stopped her car and, with some other people, moved Mr. Toan to the roadside. When the victim was taken for emergency treatment, she returned home to feed her child. Afterwards, Chi fabricated a story about arguing with her husband. She then asked a friend to pick her up and spent the night sleeping in the car with them; simultaneously, she turned off her phone and discarded it.
The next day, learning that Mr. Toan had died, Chi borrowed a phone to call her husband to pick her up and take her to the police station to surrender. Police checked Chi's alcohol level, but at the time of the check, the female driver was not in violation. However, Chi admitted to consuming beer before the accident. Security camera footage at the restaurant recorded her drinking about 8 cans of beer.
