On 21/9, the Internal Political Security Department of Quang Ngai Provincial Police issued a decision to fine a man from Truong Quang Trong ward for exploiting social media to provide and share journalistic works without the consent of the intellectual property rights holder.

Previously, through monitoring the internet, the Internal Political Security Department discovered several news videos posted on this individual's social media account showing signs of copyright infringement related to journalistic works by Quang Ngai Newspaper, Radio, and Television.

Working with the police, the man admitted to using entire news segments broadcast on Quang Ngai Television about the groundbreaking and implementation of construction projects in the province to edit into personal videos.

During the process, he added and removed text and images, then posted them on social media to attract viewers for personal purposes, without the consent of the journalistic agency, which is the rights holder.

Based on point d, clause 1, Article 95 of Decree 174/2026/ND-CP issued by the Government on 15/5/2026, the Head of the Internal Political Security Department decided to fine the individual 12.5 million VND and order the removal of the infringing information.

Quang Ngai Provincial Police advises social media users to respect intellectual property rights for journalistic works and other types of creative content. Copying, editing, posting, or sharing others' works must comply with legal regulations and require permission from the rights holder.
