Gangster Linh 'Lun' investigated for signs of tax evasion

Police raided the residence of Hoang Manh Linh (alias Linh "Lun"), owner of several popular restaurants and karaoke bars, to investigate signs of tax evasion and illegal invoice trading.

On 10/9, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Criminal Investigation Department announced that it had summoned and conducted an urgent search of the residence and workplace of Hoang Manh Linh, 39, Director of Linh Khang Construction Joint Stock Company in Dong Quang ward. This action aims to clarify a series of violations related to the company's operations.

Investigators suspect Linh Khang Company of tax evasion, as well as the illegal printing, issuance, and trading of invoices and state budget payment documents. Authorities are currently clarifying the roles of Linh and other individuals involved.

The company is suspected of using other businesses to issue invoices, thereby legalizing the input and output of goods and services. Additionally, it allegedly falsified labor declarations to inflate expenses, reducing its payable tax amount.

Specifically, the 2024 financial report for Linh Khang Company declared 65 contracted and paid employees. However, verification revealed that many individuals on this list did not actually work for the company and did not receive salaries.

Company records show over 1,3 billion VND in salaries disbursed to these alleged employees. Nevertheless, the individuals named on the list stated they were unaware of the company, had not signed employment contracts, and had not worked there.

Linh is known as a notorious gangster in Thanh Hoa. In 2011, he was sentenced to 36 months in prison for disturbing public order following a gunfight near Dong Huong bridge in Hac Thanh ward.

After serving his sentence, Linh engaged in pawn brokering and loan sharking before establishing Linh Khang Construction Joint Stock Company. Linh currently owns several popular restaurants in prime locations within Thanh Hoa province's central urban area, including Trau ngon 36, Luxury Billiards Club, and the KTV karaoke establishment.
