Indicted for declaring Phu Quoc land price 20 times lower to evade tax

Nguyen Dinh Quoc accused of selling a Phu Quoc land plot for 40 billion VND, but the contract only recorded 2 billion VND.

On 10/9, Nguyen Dinh Quoc, 69, was prosecuted by An Giang Provincial Police for tax evasion and prohibited from leaving his residence.

According to the police, Quoc, residing in Ca Mau province, purchased nearly 6,000 square meters of land in the Phu Quoc special economic zone, An Giang province, for over 38 billion VND.

Instead of signing a transfer contract, he only signed a power of attorney agreement to evade paying over 191 million VND in registration fees.

Later, when transferring the land plot to another person, he allegedly declared the transaction value as only 2 billion VND, while the actual price was 40 billion VND, to evade 910 million VND in personal income tax.

The investigative agency is expanding the case and prosecuting those involved.
