On 14/2, Nguyen Ngoc Hoa was temporarily detained by the Ho Chi Minh City Police's Criminal Police Department for bribery.
In connection with the case, Nguyen Minh Thach, 47, is being investigated for fraud and appropriation of property.

According to records, Hoa was involved in a brawl between two gangs at a wedding restaurant in Phu Nhuan district in 6/2024. After the incident, he fled and was sought by the investigative agency.
Earlier this year, knowing the case had been tried, Hoa returned to Ho Chi Minh City. Wanting to 'clear' his record and avoid criminal prosecution, he contacted Thach, asking him to find an authorized person to 'fix the case'. Thach demanded 300 million dong for this service.
At noon on 11/2, the two met at a cafe in Binh Trung ward (formerly Thu Duc City) to exchange money. After receiving the 300 million dong, Thach instructed Hoa to report to the ward police.
Based on Hoa's testimony, the Criminal Police Department noticed unusual signs and focused their investigation. On 12/2, Hoa admitted giving money to Thach to influence the process and evade criminal responsibility.
When questioned by the investigative agency, Thach stated he exploited Hoa's fear, providing false information that he "could arrange things" when he actually had no ability to contact or influence any individual.
Searching Thach's residence, police recovered the entire 300 million dong as evidence. The investigative agency is expanding the case.
Ho Chi Minh City Police advise citizens to be wary of offers to "fix cases", "reduce penalties", or interfere with investigations. Offering money or assets to influence authorized individuals is an illegal act and will result in criminal prosecution.
When involved in incidents, citizens should work directly with authorities and immediately report any brokerage or fraudulent activities.
