Ho Chi Minh City Police's Economic Police Department announced on 14/2 that they had issued an administrative penalty against a 40-year-old man and ordered the destruction of a shipment of unverified frozen food worth over 2,3 billion VND. This action followed the discovery of nearly 29 tons of illicit food products, including pork udders, sausages, and animal offal, which were intended for distribution to restaurants and street food vendors in the city.

Detectives made the discovery in late January, locating two refrigerated trucks in a parking lot near Le Thi Rieng street, Thoi An ward (formerly district 12). Inside the vehicles, police found 28,8 tons of various food items.
The seized goods included nearly 14 tons of pork udders, over 8,3 tons of stone-grilled sausages, 520 kg of young chicken eggs, and thousands of kilograms of goose breast, Vietnamese pork sausage, steamed buns, sausages, and pork bones.
The owner failed to provide any invoices or documents proving the origin of the products.

According to investigators, the man sourced these unregulated items from various channels, primarily through social media. He then used refrigerated trucks to transport the goods from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City.
To evade detection by authorities, he frequently changed both vehicles and routes during transit. Instead of using official warehouses, he opted to store the goods in empty lots, construction sites, or deserted areas in An Phu Dong and Thoi An wards.

Authorities stated that if these products had entered the market, they would have posed a significant food safety risk, potentially impacting consumer health. The illicit food was reportedly destined for sale to budget eateries and street food vendors across the city.
