Hanoi cracks down on prostitution ring disguised as 'karaoke complex', summons 86 people

Karaoke venues Ba Sao, Alibaba, Amazing, and F1 in An Khanh commune are accused of organizing prostitution for customers, utilizing guesthouses equipped with external surveillance cameras.

On 29/11, the Hanoi City Police's Criminal Police Department announced the arrest of 19 individuals. They are being investigated for crimes including harboring prostitution, brokering prostitution, and purchasing sex from minors.

Police stated that numerous karaoke establishments and guesthouses in Phuong Quan hamlet, An Khanh commune, were engaged in prostitution activities. When a customer expressed interest, karaoke managers would summon sex workers from nearby accommodations to negotiate a price.

Upon agreement, the sex worker needed to notify and obtain approval from the manager. After confirmation, the karaoke venues would arrange for familiar taxis to transport both the customer and the sex worker to nearby guesthouses.

These guesthouses were equipped with external surveillance cameras for security. They only permitted familiar taxis or those with prior notification to enter and rent rooms.

In November, criminal police, alongside An Khanh commune police, simultaneously inspected the karaoke businesses Ba Sao and Amazing, as well as the guesthouses Bao Ngoc and Ngoc Anh. During these inspections, police discovered 4 couples engaged in prostitution, 4 couples preparing for it, and 4 couples departing.

Individuals involved confessed to being brokered at the Ba Sao, Alibaba, Amazing, and F1 establishments. Subsequently, the Criminal Police Department summoned 86 related individuals, including establishment owners, staff, sex workers, and customers.
