An explosion involving homemade fireworks in Binh Xuyen commune on 29/8 resulted in one fatality and three serious injuries, destroying three rental rooms. The Phu Tho Provincial Police confirmed the incident, stating that the victims were making the explosive devices.
The blast occurred at 13:10 on 29/8 at a rental complex owned by Pham Thi Thuy in Phuc Khai hamlet, Binh Xuyen commune. The first explosion originated from room 404 on the 4th floor. The rental complex, which began operations in 2025, has approximately 40 rooms, with eight to ten rooms on each floor.
The explosion completely destroyed room 404 and two adjacent rooms, 403 and 405. Several surrounding rooms were also affected, and the corrugated iron roof over the ground-floor parking area was deformed, according to the Phu Tho Provincial Police.
One young man died at the scene, and three others sustained severe injuries, with their bodies and faces disfigured. The injured victims were rushed to Vinh Phuc General Hospital in a comatose state, unable to communicate.

Following a scene investigation, autopsy, and collected evidence, the Phu Tho Provincial Police determined the preliminary cause was the victims' attempt to make homemade fireworks, which detonated during the process.
