On 10/7, Hai, 54, was temporarily detained by An Giang Provincial Police for criminal investigation into murder.

According to the investigation, on the morning of 9/7, Hai walked past the home of Mr. Hong, 41, in My Hoa Hung commune. He saw Mr. Hong drinking with two friends. Hai noticed Mr. Hong's electric bicycle had fallen on the side of the house but continued on to a pond to feed fish.

Later, on his way back, Hai was confronted by Mr. Hong, who suspected him of knocking over his bicycle. An argument ensued, escalating into a challenge to fight.

Mr. Hong then went into his house, grabbed a knife, and chased Hai. Hai ran for about 30 meters before tripping and falling. As his neighbor attacked, an enraged Hai pulled out a knife he was carrying and stabbed Mr. Hong multiple times, killing him at the scene.

After committing the crime, Hai surrendered to My Hoa Hung Commune Police.
