On the evening of 4/9, Nguyen Duc Anh, 21, was prosecuted and temporarily detained by Dong Nai Police for investigation into murder under Clause 1, Article 123 of the Penal Code.
Authorities identified Duc Anh as the attacker of Nguyen Viet Quang's family in Binh Minh commune. The attack resulted in the deaths of Quang's wife, Ho Thi Mai, and their two children. Nguyen Viet Quang suffered severe injuries but is now past the critical stage.
Told friend he would 'seek revenge'
According to the investigation, on the afternoon of 2/9, Duc Anh drank with about seven people at a friend's house in Ho Nai ward. During the gathering, he spoke about his girlfriend breaking up with him and his intention to seek revenge, but everyone present dissuaded him.
Around 22:30, after the gathering concluded, Duc Anh asked a friend from the group to drive him to Bui Chu hamlet, Binh Minh commune. He claimed he needed to collect a 5 million dong debt from an acquaintance.
En route, Duc Anh asked his friend to drive him back to his rented room in Ho Nai ward to retrieve some items. The friend was unaware of what Duc Anh took.
At the rented room, Duc Anh took a Japanese sword and a Thai knife, concealing them on his person. He then asked his friend to drive him to the previously mentioned location. Upon arriving at his ex-girlfriend's neighborhood, he requested his friend to drive around for observation.
Spotting his ex-girlfriend's father returning from work, Duc Anh demanded the car stop and stated, "Let me deal with this man; he is the father of the one who owes me money."
His friend intervened, preventing Duc Anh from carrying out his intention, and drove him back to his rented room to rest before returning home.

According to investigators, around midnight on 3/9, Duc Anh drove his motorbike, wearing a face mask and carrying a knife, back to his ex-girlfriend's house. He parked the vehicle behind the house, then climbed over a neighbor's fence and onto the roof, seeking a way to break in.
Hearing a noise from the skylight area, the girl's father came out to confront him. Duc Anh then climbed over to Nguyen Viet Quang's adjacent house, continuing his attempt to break into that residence.
Killed the entire family to 'eliminate witnesses'
As he opened a second-floor door to descend to the ground floor, Nguyen Viet Quang discovered Duc Anh and shouted for help. The suspect immediately attacked him with a knife.
Quang ran to the back to grab a knife to defend himself but dropped it. Duc Anh continued to pursue and slash him, inflicting severe injuries. The victim opened the door and ran into the street, crying for help, but the suspect continued his pursuit, attacking him until he collapsed about 15 meters from the house gate.
According to the investigation results, Duc Anh then re-entered Quang's house, locked the gate, and sought out the remaining occupants to continue the killings and eliminate witnesses.
After committing the crime, Duc Anh went out to open the door and was apprehended by police.
