Nguyen Manh Can, 27, residing in Dam Ha commune, was recently prosecuted by the Quang Ninh Provincial Police Economic Police Department for infringing copyright and related rights under Article 225 of the Criminal Code.
According to the investigation, around 1/2025, Can observed the game "Ninja School Online", developed by Gomobi Co., Ltd., attracted many players. He then hired someone to create computer programs that copied nearly all of the game's script, interface, characters, items, and storyline.
Can named the copycat game "Truong Hoc Ninja School" and distributed it for free on the internet and mobile applications to attract a community of gamers.
After drawing a large number of players, Can introduced programs, events, and exclusive in-game items. Players wishing to acquire powerful accounts or purchase virtual currency had to contact Can directly and transfer money to him.
Investigators determined that the entire process of copying, transmitting, and operating this game was unauthorized. It lacked a license for distribution and the consent of the copyright owner.
