On 12/8, Vuong, 28, was temporarily detained by Ho Chi Minh City Police for investigation into property robbery.
Initially, Vuong stated he rode a motorbike to Hien Cafe on Nguyen Huu Tho street, Ba Choi hamlet, Hiep Phuoc commune, where he ordered coffee and asked the owner to charge his phone.
Waiting for the cafe to be empty, Vuong suddenly pulled out a knife and held it to the female owner's throat, overpowering her. He took a necklace, a gold bracelet, and 4 million dong before fleeing. The total value of the stolen assets exceeded 20 million dong.
The female owner subsequently reported the incident to the police. Hiep Phuoc Commune Police, in coordination with the Criminal Police Department, reviewed security cameras in the vicinity to track the suspect.
Within 9 hours, detectives apprehended Vuong while he was hiding in My Loc commune, Tay Ninh province, approximately 22 km from the crime scene.
Police seized the motorbike and the jewelry Vuong was accused of stealing.
